I Didn't Ask for This
Moses stalled. Gideon hid. Jonah ran. A week with people who didn't want the job — and the God who used them anyway.
Day 1 · about 5 min
Exodus 3:7–15; Exodus 4:10–17
Moses is eighty years old, tending sheep in the desert, long since done with big plans. A bush burns without burning up, and God starts talking — about a rescue, and about Moses' part in it. Watch the back-and-forth: every time Moses names a reason he's not the man for this, notice what God says back.
Day 2 · about 5 min
Judges 6:11–24; Judges 6:36–40
Israel is being raided by the Midianites — crops stolen, families driven into hiding. We meet a young man named Gideon doing his threshing down in a winepress, a sunken pit, so the raiders won't spot the grain. Watch closely for the first words God's messenger says to him, and count how many times Gideon asks for proof before he moves.
Day 3 · about 5 min
Jonah 1:1–17
Day 3 brings us to a prophet who gets an assignment he never wanted. Nineveh lay east; Jonah books passage west, as far as a ship could carry him. Watch what God does next — not hand the job to someone else, but follow Jonah out to sea. And notice how the sailors, who don't know this God at all, respond to the storm compared to how Jonah does.
Day 4 · about 5 min
Jonah 3:1–10; Jonah 4:1–11
Jonah was handed an assignment he never wanted, and he ran the other way. Now the word comes to him a second time — same city, same message. Watch what happens after he actually does the job: the story doesn't end with success, but with Jonah sitting outside town, furious. And notice who gets the last word, and what that word is about.
Day 5 · about 5 min
Jeremiah 1:4–19; Jeremiah 20:7–9
Jeremiah is a young man in Judah, generations before anyone reading this. God hands him a job he never applied for — and his first words back are essentially "I'm too young for this." Then the reading jumps ahead years, to a page from his journal after the work has cost him friends and reputation. Watch how his reluctance never quite disappears — and what sits alongside it.
Day 6 · about 5 min
Acts 9:10–19; Acts 9:26–28; Acts 22:12–16
Saul has been hunting followers of Jesus, and now he's blind in a house in Damascus. Today the camera turns away from him and onto two ordinary people who get handed an assignment nobody would volunteer for: Ananias, told to go knock on that door, and later Barnabas, who speaks up for Saul when everyone else backs away. Watch what Ananias says honestly to God first u2014 and then what he calls Saul when he walks in.
Day 7 · about 5 min
Esther 4:1–17; Esther 5:1–3
Last day of the track. Esther was taken into the Persian palace — she never volunteered for any of it. Now a royal decree has been signed to destroy her people, and her cousin Mordecai sends word asking her to speak to the king, something no one may do uninvited. Watch the messages travel back and forth, and notice where Esther lands.
