5 Minutes Bible

Privacy

Effective August 2026. This is the whole policy, in plain words. It applies to the 5min.bible website, the 5 Minutes Bible iOS and Android apps, and email we send.

What we collect

  • An anonymous account is created the first time you open the app so your progress can be saved. It has no name or email until you add one.
  • If you add an account (email, or Sign in with Apple / Google): your email address, and a display name if you choose one. Apple may give us a private relay address instead of your real one; that's fine with us.
  • Reading activity: which track you're on, which days you completed, your streak, your chosen translation, reminder time and time zone.
  • Journal entries you write. They are private by default. An entry is visible to friends or a group only if you set it that way, entry by entry.
  • Social data if you use it: friends, groups you belong to, reactions, and reports you file.
  • Push tokens if you turn on reminders (a device address for notifications, nothing more).
  • Donations: Stripe processes payments; we store the amount, date, currency, whether it recurs, and the email you gave Stripe. We never see or store card or bank numbers.
  • Error reports: when the app crashes we log the error message, stack trace, app version and route so we can fix it — with your user id if you were signed in.

What we don't do

  • No ads. No selling, renting or sharing your data with data brokers or advertisers. No third-party analytics SDKs.
  • No AI runs on your data. Readings are prepared in advance and human-reviewed; nothing you write is sent to an AI service.
  • No public profile pages, no search for people, no public journal URLs.

Who processes data for us

Supabase (database, authentication, hosted in the United States), Vercel (website hosting), Stripe (donations), Resend (email), Expo and Apple/Google push services (notifications), and API.Bible / Crossway / Tyndale (scripture text — we send the passage reference, never your identity).

Your controls

  • Delete your account any time from Account → Delete my account (web and app). It removes your account, journal, streaks, friendships and group memberships within minutes. Donation records are kept for accounting, without your account link.
  • Change or turn off reminders and notification digests in Account.
  • Change who can see your streak, block a person, leave a group, or make any journal entry private again.
  • Email hello@5min.bible to export your data or ask anything.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has created an account, email us and we'll remove it.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll say so on this page and, if you have an email on file, tell you.
